Habemus Papam

It is a beautiful and profound thing to witness the continuity of the papacy in the Church. Founded on the faith of Saint Peter, the Petrine ministry continues today in Pope Leo XVI. It remains an enduring sign of Christ’s love and guidance for his Church. Let us keep our new Holy Father in our prayers. If you wish, you may offer the following prayer.

O God, who in your providential design willed that your Church be built upon blessed Peter, whom you set over the other Apostles, look with favor, we pray, on Leo our Pope and grant that he, whom you have made Peter’s successor, may be for your people a visible source and foundation of unity in faith and of communion. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Es algo hermoso y profundo ser testigos de la continuidad del Papado en la Iglesia. Fundado sobre la fe de San Pedro, el Ministerio Petrino continúa hoy en el Papa León XVI. Sigue siendo un signo constante del amor y la guía de Cristo para su Iglesia. Acompañemos con nuestras oraciones a nuestro nuevo Santo Padre. Si lo desea, puede rezar la siguiente oración.

Señor Dios, que por designio de tu providencia quisiste edificar a tu Iglesia sobre la roca de Pedro, y lo pusiste al frente de los demás apóstoles, mira con bondad a nuestro Papa León y, ya que lo has constituido sucesor de Pedro, concédele que sea para tu pueblo principio y fundamento visible de la unidad de la fe y de la comunión.
